JoinMESH

A [hopefully helpful] guide to joining a local mesh.

wait... what is MESH?

The MESH we are talking about here is the general MESH technology where a MESH platform can send electronic information wireless from person to person usually without Internet connection or Cellular phones. A platform called Meshtastic is a popular platform, but there are others to choose from. Each offers a different set of tools. Keep reading for more info below.

How do I get started?

  1. Find out if there are others in your area that are part of a mesh platform. Take a look at one of the many maps to get an idea of where MESH nodes currently are running: HERE HERE HERE
  2. Purchase compatible hardware. These are often referred to as "nodes". See more about this in the HARDWARE section.
  3. Install the software from the desired MESH platform on your node and your phone or computer.
  4. Experiment for the best places to place your node for connection to your local MESH. The higher the better is the general idea, but often just on your table works.
  5. Get your friends and family involved, Become part of the community and help build your local community MESH.
